Today, I noticed a small damage on the arowana's tail.. could it be fin rot? Sorry for the blurry pictures.

i do believe sir something took a nip at the tail if anything is in there..

as stated looks more like a bite mark then finrot. find out witch tankmate it is cause it may be opening pandora's box.

That's strange... it's in the tank by itself. The only other thing I could think of is that the heater burned a piece of it off, but the heater is set to maintain the temperature at 82 degrees F. Is that even possible lol? o_O

Why?
Explain please.
if u look the pic closer, its different from nip mark, and its not burned.
its the first layer of the fin decayed out then to the second layer of the actual fin till no more fins to rod out then its just gonna spread to the rest of the fins.
u would not have to ask the noob, if u actually pay attention to the pic or is it something else that i dont know :nilly:

I fancied a laugh. You were on top form!

Back to the OP, I wouldn't worry about it mate. It doesn't look like fin rot to me, could have just nicked it on something in the tank.
If it is fin rot, it is not extreme, and keep up the water changes and apply meds if/when needed.

Maybe check the pics on this thread for fin rot: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=384384&page=24

good luck mate, from what I can see of your Aro, looks fab!
