hi MFKers! i wanted to get some input on my tank setup before i purchase everything - i wanted to know what will work and what wont before i splash the cash....
Tank Setup -
Dimensions 84" x 38" x 27" = 373 US gallons (1412 Litres)
I plan to have two triangular weirs, one in each corner.
I have a 5ft sump already built by myself
I plan to use TWO eheim compact plus 5000's ( i figure two smallish pumps will produce less noise and also act as a fail-safe should one decide to stop working)
the pumps produce 2500 - 5000 lph each and have a max head of 3 metres.
i have calculated that from the chart eheim have provided that the delivery head height for my setup would be 1.5 metres meaning each pump would produce 37.5 lpm, therefore;
37.5 x 60 = 2250 lph
x2 = 4500 lph
4500 / 1412 = 3.2 turnover rate
Stocking -
Black Arowana
Pair of rays
3 Polypterus (2 Dels and one endli)
Clown Knife
5 Geophagus ( varied species)
5 Datnoids (indo and NTT)
Florida Gar
Lima Shovelnose
The stock will probably change over the years im sure.
with this stocklist my pumps are probably not going to be big enough????????
also what size pipes should i use for my two inlets and two outlets? this is so i can get my holes drilled the correct size when i order.
any help on this will be greatly appreciated as i have the money ready and am itching to get my new tank!!!!!
