Finally a true"Monster"!!!!

Went to 1 of the local LFS's around here,and inside a plastic drum i found a fish that i had been looking for,for about 3 yrs,a Giant Gourami he/she is about a foot long and about 2.5-3 inches thick.It is a grey 1,it is very personably and poses no harm to any of its tankmates(all of wich is alot smaller than it).But as far as i am concerned he bangs the glass trying to get to me.I am a little worried about cleaning the tank(he looks like he could take a nice chunk out of my arm)any suggestions as far as this is concerned??Also he is not to crazy about the cichlid pellets i bought him,he takes them chews them then spits them out.What would be a good diet for him/her???Is there a sticky link on these fish like in the other threads??Thanks for any help!!!

Gday, my Giant Grey Gourami is pushin 19''.i got him 2.5 years ago when he was bout 3''. i feed the big guy sinking pellet,prawns and occasionally cucumber. hes even eaten strawberries. As for biting you,i dont think you have anything to worry about,mine hammers the glass as soon as you get close enough to the tank, but when ive got my hands in the tank he goes all soft. Never attacked me but when ive got my hands in there holding food he has no hesitation coming and snatching the food straight out of my hand.

They are veggies in the wild, mine gets fed lettuce and mango at the moment but it will eat just about everything. Cheese is a treat but messy up the tank a lot so he only gets this before water changes

Mine gets bok choy, celery leaves, mixed lettuce leaves, banana, apple, pear, strawberry and whatever other fruit and veg I have in the fridge. He loves the frozen blood worm I put in for the two black ghostknives he shares with. Also loves the feeder cockroaches I breed to feed to my lizards.

You guys are right,i have to hand feed my TSN,when i put my arm in the tank the GG made sure he was way on yhe other side of the tank!!But he/she sure loves raw shrimp!!!These fish are true gentile giants in my opinion.
