You know "that point" where you have old equipment coming out of your ears? You can just set up a tank in 10 minutes. Trips to the store are infrequent and often unnecessary.

Im tripping over suctioncups and gravel vacs and old yet functional filters.

Today I set up a pristine 406 with a brand new gasket, impeller, shaft, and cover that I just had laying laying around. I just dug into my bin of treasures. its full of a random stew of ehfimech, substrat pro, biomax, pot scrubs, bioballs, and sponges. Who cares.

My old man was an avid aquarist for literal decades, he recently passed and I inherited his monsterous accumulation of gear also. I had the displeasure of dismantling his awesome fishroom over the holiday. :( here's a thread about it and all the antiques I dug up.

I'm helping out friends who keep fish, but mostly I'm just hoarding this crap. Payback for years of irresponsible spending at the LFS

It takes a long time. Everyone has to make the financially detrimental mistakes haha

I'm sorry for your loss, my father got me into the hobby as a boy many years back also. He passed and I went through the same process of sorting tanks and gear. I feel your pain, but remember all he did for you in the hobby and in life. I saw your Memorial tank and its a beautiful thing.

Cheers to pops.

Peace

Thanks man. At least I can take comfort in knowing I dont have to buy heaters or air pumps for the rest of my life. Haha

Sorry for your loss, you must have some great memories. Now you don't have to worry about that emergency run to the store because something broke. Lol
