Ha!! Nice!! Don't be disappointed though if it turns out to be Crenicichla sp. 'venezuela'...as often they are mislabled as Crenicichla strigata. If you got it from a LFS that orders from Rapps or some other known importer though, the chance is pretty high it is true strigata. Either way, the pike is gonna get at least 14" if its strigata...and at least 18" if its sp. 'venezuela'. Feed it a variety of foods, like every other fish you keep. Try to stay away from live foods even though its very tempting.

it was from that fish place they are not too far from me they had another crenicichla orincessis (sp?) it was like a tan i believe with black spots (bare with descrition this was prior to new years eve) it was 150 but over all beautiful wanted to know more about this guy and if that was a good price

Cr. orinocensis?!? Never heard of it. Was it Cr. lucustris? Greenish tan base color with dark red spots all over it's body? For $150 it better be pretty special.

That Pet Place normally just gets in johanna, sp. 'venezuela', and sp. 'xingu I'...they used to order from Rapps...but they got new management or something and now they are only gettin it from a few suppliers. Sucks a bit.

There is a chance that it might be a rare pike, but I wouldn't risk it. They could slap a name on a pike and then jack the price. Like Scat said, I've never even heard of Crenicichla orinocensis. Unless they are talkin about the collection area, I would be just a little skeptical. Also, how large is the pike? If it is smaller than 8" don't buy it because of how good it looks because there is a very large chance it still has to go through at least one color change, if not two. The pike you see as a juv usually doesn't look like the adult except for a few pikes. Just a heads up....;) paying $150 for a pike that looks nothing like it does as a juv. is a big gamble if you don't know what species it is.

Lenticulata Pike is what it was at that pet place for 150.00 i have no idea what they had it marked as but i found a pic of lenticulata and its the fish that was there worth it
