Finally buying a silver :)

Since I've first seen them I've been in love and I've been teased seeing them at my LFS so often. So this week I will be buying one that's about 6-7" long and is eating hikari sticks and krill/ silversides. It will first go into my 55g then into my 135 and after those it will be in my 280 (ordering by the end of this month) I'm quite excited to finally own one of these beautiful creatures

i had an arrow many years ago. back when a silver went for $12.00. picked up a 4-5" one today for $60. it was the most aggressive of the 5 he had.right now he is in my 300 gal stock tank. he has been feeding them crickets and feeders.

What are the dimensions of the 280 gallon? Silver aro should be kept in a tank that is at least 3x the aros length and have a width at least equal to the arowana's length. Silver aro with proper care is going to get at least 30-32" maybe bigger. So bare minumum standard foot print is 96x30".

Looks like the 280-300 is now a few months out... Probably gonna wait till I actually have it before buying. Don't want it's growth to be racing my income

very wise, nice to see such a post instead of a "how long can I keep a silver in a 10g" kinda thing....

I agree with Brian too, if you're going to spend the money on a big tank then get something at least 8x3x2' so you know you'll be good for many years.
