Hi all,

I have a 30g with a pair that recentlly gave babies...about 100 at least;

Anyhoo, how OFTEN do you feed them and do you increase the water changes now that the bio load will be bigger in the future?

They will be used to feed my predator tank...so about 1/2 inch, they will be scooped out.

Congrats

Your a father!

Hey wait, what did you say you were going to do with those babies?

Honestly will the bio load even be much of an issue? At what rate will they be fed to others?

Finally??? Did you forget to add water??

Babies need to be fed more often. I'd say atleast 3 feedings a day. You might wanna bump up the WCs a little to compensate for the extra mess, unless you are neat about it.

I was about to say the same.

If it took you so long to get your cons breeding you shoulda PM'd me. I woulda shipped you one of my 15 breeding pairs at your expense. :D

Anyhow congrats. I would feed a few times a day and watch your filter. The bioload will only continue to climb till you start scooping them out. You could always seperate the babies, but there's really no need too. Once you get a few pairs, you'll have tons of feeders. It's what I do.

15 breading pairs? Dang. That's a lot of tank space dedication. Do you have then all in their own tanks? There is no need to seperate the babies? Do the parents spawn even with an older generation of their fry/juvies in the same tank with no problems? Do you like my 20 questions?:)

Well, I had a male and female i bought from Pet's Mart. About 1 1/2 long each...male kept beating the crap out of the female, even when at first they were in a 75g by themselves.

Moved them into the 30g (by themselves), and did all the tricks. Nothing worked...the female was hidden all day long as the moment she would come out even during feeding the male would clip her.

Anyhoo, I decided to push my luck and got 2 new males and 4 females... one of the female/male were HUGE about 3- 3 1/2" (compared to 1-2" from PetsMart). Right off the bat the big ones start to hang out together...and BINGO...eggs (less than a week???); got rid of the other cons and have the only pair right now.

FYI...I have sand in my tank; let me tell you...it looks like a damn maze...they kept making holes and little hills EVERYWHERE! Looks kind of cool, but It will be a pain to clean it.

How long before the babies are big enough for feeding size? I have a 8" Florida Gar and 7" CK in my predator tank. Trying to give them a variety of diet...
