been a long EXPENSIVE project ...but its something i always wanted to do...believe me if i ever get the fish room in basement going it'll be shop lights and 2x4 stands with black painted BGs ...crown moulding for very top is not on yet...i build aircraft, pretty high end proto type **** ...and cut compound miter wrong ...only have enough wood for one shot...the whole project has been that way...75 gallon is 48 1/2 long...wall is only 47 7/8...house built in 1929...nothing is square or level...but tank had to be...anyways enjoy...I'm beat

Looks great. I think the craftsmanship is outstanding, actually. You did a great job of hiding the seams. Did you just paint the wood or did you put drywall over it? Looks like just wood? Did you use any filler to smooth it out before painting to give it a smooth drywall look?

I'm getting a few ideas for my own project that will be pretty similar. I have a spot in my basement for an 8ft tank in my wall.

actually i was gonna use dry wall but had to use 1/4 inch plywood for structure above tank ..drywall adds next to nothing but weight..so i just used it on the whole thing...off course i built sub structure thinking i was gonna use 1/2 inch green board ...pretty much sucked from the first cut lol...and alot of drywall compound and sanding...rinse repeat for 3 days...house is lath and plaster and i had a lot of sins to hide mating into old walls...i just shot from the hip and stick built it...just like me shes a little ugly on the inside lol...

BTW the shoot from the hip thing cost about twice as much in the long run..time and money...lots of drops left...lots of waste...

when i do fish room in basement im just tearing out an old paneling wall and sheet rocking a new one in its place with stands and cut outs built in ...tanks will look like pictures on the wall...someday
