I finally found a Black Arowana. Its only 6" and $250. Does this price sound about right? Also, I have never cared for an Aro this young, and from the research I've done they can be fragile. Any advice and will it end up being a 250 dollar gamble?

Make sure the aquarium lid completely covers every inch of the tank. Get some weight to it too, and add more weight as it any arowana gets bigger. They're known jumpers & seem to find any crack to jump. They're strong when they jump too.

They start to become pretty stable at that size, good advice above and keep it solo until 10-11".

and then to what with the silver once it's larger, just dispose of it?

Go for it, black aros are more unique than the common silver, he will be your pet for many years to come, so buy the best that you can afford and be ready with a vbig tank once it grows.
