i dont have any pics yet, but i finally found some true gars in my city. i've been hearing word that they are no longer illegal in san diego (cali in general) but i went to a fish store recommended to me by another fish store as "the fish store that sells asian arowanas". i didnt believe the guy til i went there yesterday finally after i've been trying to go there for the past 6 months. every time i went there all the shops around it kept saying "he went home to his hometown and wont be back for a few months". first thing i thought was "this guy must be trying to import some stuff". low and behold, i walk in and first thing i see is 2 asian aros. spotted/florida gars, black aro, and 1 tank in the back that was covered with wood so i couldn't see what was in it but i looked through the lid and saw a huge huge asian aro... ill post pics of my new lil monster to be when i get home but i was so excited i found this place i jus had to tell someone about it.

i even talked to my buddy tong who lives up in the LA area, he said gars are flooded in his lfs's up there which is what made me wanna find some down here and i have. illegal or not, i had to buy some as soon as i saw them because i was afraid i wouldn't see them again. im gonna go back n buy 1 more and maybe some flag tails because ive never seen flag tails in sd before either.

One of our former sponsors was just arrested on importing illegal species. If you think this site isn't under increased scrutiny by unfriendly eyes, you're sorely mistaken. So, keep posting all the illegal species you're buying and maintaining. Some folks may not feel Damocles' sword wavering over their heads but, others do and are prudent enough to not boast about these transactions on a public forum.
