behind my iMac.... Southampton UK.
right finally after two years of hunting and watching, waiting... Dan @ tropical imports has got them in and mine should be with me early next week. I will post pics when it arrives but it just dawned on me, i have no idea what sort of growth rate to expect from it, I know they get around 28" but no idea how quick? Its not a problem, i am just curious... Thanks!

Enjoy them!! They are awesome! How many have you ordered and at what size?

They grow as quickly as you allow them. MAin thing is not letting them be/get thin...by thin I mean being able to observe two "grooves " in their back. Fill them up nice and easy.

I feed mine day in day out, a good piece of defrosted fish, which I buy in the supermarket ( I prefere FW fish such as nile perch ) and have it cut in "slices"...A good sized slice feeds my three ( half of it for the monster and a quarter each for the young'uns )

The young'uns don't like the skin and scales around the slice of fish so I have to rip it off. The monster, on the other hand, could eat an ox with horns.

On and off, when I feed it to the aros/knives, they vaccuum some of the shrimp from the bottom of the tank.

BEWARE of high temps. They hate it. By high I mean above 27-28 Cº. I find they like colder waters...

Enjoy

I would say that an FRT with a Pcman is a big Nono! Turtle will hassle your cat no end...

Don't do it.:)

Yup, dans a good guy, glad you can find them. A jar, frt and the cat sounds like an explosive combination...

i certainly apprechiate your point about the frt, i think i may try a frt if i can find one? I will obviously be keep a close eye on it, if and when i do, any problems and i have plenty of space for a frt away from the pacman! Thou would love it to go perfectly!

i'm keeping my pac with a bagarius yarelli and some altifon earth eaters. so far no problems.

one thing to note is the size of the pac's tankmates to be gotta be larger than the pac and yet should not pose any hazard to the pac.

You do what you want, my friend. They may get used, but it is not their ideal conditions.

Mine get stressed.

You just have to google ( it would be easier if you read portuguese ) it. The brazilians have a lot of published work on the pacmans ( for fishculture purposes ). They breed them intensively at the 3 Marias Pisciculture centre near the 3 Marias Dam in the Sao Francisco River.

But, as said, to each his own...:)
