So after what seamed like forever (the last year) I have finally got some cichla piquiti coming in. Got 5 for $50. Hopefully they all make it. Next on the list is an orino to try and breed them. Pics will come tomorrow when they arrive.

Im excited to get them in. Only thing im worried about is in my 240g I have a female red terror. Will a school of cichla be ok with her?

How big is the red terror and how big are the azuls that your getting? Generally this will not work IMO. Red Terrors are territorial. Having a big tank helps but I wouldn't introduce small cichla to a red terror established tank, even a tank that big.

The red terror is only about 5" im going to be growing them out in a 40b until they are big enough to not become food in my 75 where I will continue to grow them. I wont introduce them to the 240 until they are bigger than the terror. Will also move some of the decor around to try and break up the territory.

Where did you find azuls for $10ea?
Or was it $50ea and I read it wrong?

Im hoping they are actually piquiti and they didnt send me something else. Unless they accidentally sent me orinos lol I could be happy with those.

As long as the pbass are a good 6" larger than the red terror, I think it would be ok. pbass are susceptible to stress and the beatings. If the tank is large enough and there are enough pbass to spread the aggression it will have the greatest chance of success.

My plan is to pair the piquiti and some orinos. (still on the hunt for those) As of right now in the tank I have my silver aro a school of red hook SD's as a dither and the red terror. 2 small syno catfish. I am going to remove the catfish though. Dont want to overcrowed the tank so not sure how many pbass I should add

Well I am down to 4. One got stuck on the intake portion of a power head. Almost lost another the same way but I caught it in time. I have kept the powerhead unplegged. All 4 I have are eating blood worms brine shrimp and mysis shrimp. And have fed feeder guppies. Have not forgot about pics waiting until they get a little bigger and a bit more used to me so I can get some good shots.
