Hey! I finally got lucky! I received today at the LFS four Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri, wild caught that endured quarantine in Nigeria. They were registered as measuring between 22 to 25cm.

I canceled a couple of patients so I could be there when they arrived to the LFS. The price I paid for them is ridiculous but these fish are invaluable to me. I had to agree to paid all DOAs as live fish, which I had no choice to accept. Fortunately they all made it alive.

One of them, a female, had very little water in its double bag (somehow she broke it), I managed to acclimate her first (the water temp of her bag was in the low 70s). I had a bucket filled to 1/3 with RO processed water waiting for them. Once I got the temps even I added an ammonia neutralizer product (API Stress Coat+) and dumped them with their water of origin in the bucket one by one.

Within 30 minutes of arrival I drove them to my office. Fortunately the temp of the bucket and my Endli growing tank was even (79.2F). pH was within 0.2 difference so I added some water from the tank into the bucket. 15 minutes later I throwed away as much water as possible (one endli ended out of the bucket I had to pick it up) and dumped them there.

They were all stress out, displaying pale coloration, but I noticed they had no noticeable fin damage and their fillets were in place. After careful inspection I found one of them had a minor dent in its caudal fin (nothing big).

My male endli, who has been living by himself in that tank fall in love inmediately with one of the ladies. The others went all over the place, two ended up "hiding" with each other while the lone endli found cover behind a driftwood.

I stayed there for a couple of hours, fascinated by this day, which I dream for since February 2010. I finally have company for my lone endli male.

Sorry for the quality of the pics. I used my cell cam (I misplaced my cam again).

Thank you! I'm so happy to have the opportunity to take good care of them. They were quite hungry, one of them went after a Silver Dollar... I bet I'll have less Rose Barbs and livebearers in the tank by tomorrow!

I keep their food alive, well fed, and available in the tank for them. Amazing view when endlis go in hunting mode!
