Im about to leave to go pick up a 20 gallon fish tank with everything including a stand I found on craigslist. I am trading a 25$ itunes giftcard for it. Hopefully its really a 20 gallon that holds water with everything. I need it for a hospital tank for my 13 inch oscar. He has hole in head. :( he is not going to be happy in it but i will only have to have him in it for a week at a time until it starts to heal up. This way im going to be able to give him a concentrated amount of meds with out killing my wallet!

I will post some pics when i get back with the tank and when i have the oscar in it.

The best way to treat HITH disease is to have good water quality. Putting a 13 inch oscar in a 20g is going to result in very poor water quality let alone all the water changes you'll have to do just to maintain proper water parameters will stress him out. Leave him in his original tank keep the water quality good. Try to feed a variety of foods, no feeders.

Its just a QT you dont need anything fancy. My QT is a 38gl rubber maid tote with a sponge filter. Besides free it doesnt get much cheaper! Most fo the stuff I already had laying around

I know i am aware of what i am going to have to do to cure him. The tank will be kept up well when he is in it and will be CLEAN. I would keep him in the original tank but it is costing me to much money in meds. I would love to have him in a bigger tank but i am a broke college student so i am doing what i can.

What are you treating him with? Best thing you can do is give the best water quality possible. By putting him in the 20g it kills the point, because a messy fish that large in a small tank is going to have poor water quality regardless of how many water changes you do.

and he will only be their a couple of days at a time

Talk about stress for your fish. Hith is easily curable in tank with out meds if it's not too bad. Raise the temp a tad and make sure your water is pristine.
