my wild caught BN pair finally bred after having them for over a year. This is my first experience with breeding plecos. They are in a 100 gal. with other types of plecos. Any good suggestion welcome

Congrats!Feed them,is all the father does a great job raising them.As long as there are no predators in the tank you have nothing to worry about.

Maybe a smaller tank for the pair only...

cool! how do you tell male from female pleco?

males have bristles on thier noses..

as for raising fry... i use a 2 way breeder and take out the v... i leave them in the tank in which they were born until they are a little more developed and can swim away from other fish well.. after that i throw them in the grow out tanks..

while in the cage i feed cucumbers, lettuce, shrooms, omega one algea tablets, and omega one goldfish pellets..

i remove them from the cave the day they hatch. its a bit difficult but using your finger and the water you can make them wiggle into the cage. one time i let them get big in the cave, and they all scrambled when i went to remove them. it took me a few hours to get about 30 of the little buggers and there were more in the tank that the other fish took care of...

sorry its so long.. i just love my plecos.. :D
