I don't have any pics yet, but I'm super pleased to finally have found some to add to my tank. They are just little guys right now, but I was assured that their supplier (breeder) was from town and not over seas. I also bought 4 tetra's and one gourami, all added with my one common gold fish.

So far they all seem to be getting along well. Both Rams found opposite corners immedietly and seem to have chosen said corners as their own territory already.

One day when we can afford a big girl tank :headbang2I'll get to graduate to bigger Cichlids, but for the time being I'm just super happy to have a couple of cichlids to appease my new cichlid passion lol!!

That's great news.

But can I make a few suggestions and ask a few questions?

- What type of gourami is the one you have?
- Why is the goldfish in there? That's trouble just waiting to unfold.
- What size is said tank?
- What type of tetras are yours?

Thanks, Eric.

you will have issues with the goldfish in there, as they want much lower temperatures than the rams

^^^ yup

Not to mention PH, as goldfish require higher PH, and Rams are extremly sensitive.

+1 these are very valid questions

Welcome to cichlid husbandry. They are very very rewarding and beautiful. Not to mention very addictive.

If the local pH is high, you'll need to get it lower for the rams to thrive and breed.

the goldfish on the other hand, aren't particularly picky though, wouldn't worry on their behalf on this unless the pH is ridiculously low

- What type of gourami is the one you have? Dwarf Gourami
- Why is the goldfish in there? That's trouble just waiting to unfold. We already had the goldfish, but have an alternative plan for it if things go awry.
- What size is said tank? 30g
- What type of tetras are yours? Black Phantom and Serpae tetra

Thanks, Eric.

:)

Well go with the alternate plan for the goldfsh pretty much NOW. The sooner the better. Hell, trade it in for another ram.

Next thing you need to remember is that rams like any dwarf cichlids are still CICHLIDS and they will eventually nail your tetras.

You also need to decide which fish is the most important. If it's the rams then you will have to keep on top of the water parameters necessary for them to thrive.

So they're not really German imports. The way 'German' gets thrown around, especially on Blue Rams, you'd think that the actual common name for these fish was "German Blue Ram" :irked:
