I know it's nothing unusual or rare. But they're not all that common in my area.
Been looking for a plated lizard for a little while. I love how they really look a little more ancient that some of the other lizards out there. I like that dinosaur-y look.
So I picked up a Sudan Plated Lizard yesterday. Was probably a bit more than I could have gotten one for at the expo in april, but the convenience factor of him being at my local LPS and I had just gotten my tax return back, so I just said frick it, I'm gettin one.
Here he is. trying to think of a neat name for him. He's got a little 2nd tail thing growing off of his main tail which is kind of neat and unique to me. I thought he'd be a little more bitey and aggressive like a legless lizard I had once upon a time, but he's mostly just skittish.
Picking up some good burrowing substrate today. The cardboard was just temporary and what I already had in the enclosure.

Very nice... How big do they grow ??? What u feed them ?

They look really nice...

I've never seen one that big, but I hear they can get up to 24" This one is about 12" nose to tip of tail. Omnivorous, but pretty partial to insects. Can also be known to take small mice or pinkies. like to burrow, and are fast as hell when they want to be. Hot and mostly dry climate.

he looks awsome i realy like it!lets see pics next to a cd or something for size compare.Dang i was wanting a legless lizard but keep hearing they are not that great to handle.

hmmm someone posted a similar one with 2 tails and growing a third... it's in the lizard sticky towards the end. Jeox's.
