So my plan was to go to the LFS and check out dwarf cichlids for a possible planted tank, but instead I found F1 Geophagus Red Head Tapajos! I've been wanting these for a long time, but I figured I'd wait until I have the money to buy them online. At 10 bucks each I couldn't resist, so I picked up a group of 7 and placed them in a 29 gallon.

I had a bluegill in there until just now, so the tank is cycled and actually has some decent algae growth. As soon as I plopped them in, they started picking at all the algae! I'm amazed at these fish already, will post pics when they're settled. I know I have to get a bigger tank soon, but how long will they be alright in a 29? They are 1" each.

You should be okay for a few months as long as you do proper water changes. I'd do one large change or two 50% changes a week.
