So I finally have my 240gal plywood tank.

2- 300watt heaters
2- emperor 400 bio wheels
1- marineland c530 canister filter

still need: black sand, lighting

stock im still thinking about. I had pairs in mind. What do you think, grammode, trimac pair? I had cubans in mind aswell.

What sort of aggressive fish could go in there? Possibley an aggressive community of some sort? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Also i want opinions on whether to stain the tank a dark brown, or just paint the stand and tank black?

Thanks in advance, Jordan

If your going community i would do just males. If it were my tank i would stock 1.trimac,1 cuban, 1 black nasty, 1 dovii, 1rtm for sure you could squez a few more in 2. i like my tanks black it gos with all decore

Id say you could do grammodes, trimacs & cubans all together, just get them small, get at least 4 of each and then weed them out as they grow. I personally think you will end up with one dominant trimac (or a pair), as they grow faster than any of the aforementioned and that has been my experience with them.

I wouldnt get haitians unless you get them already over about 5 inches or unless you have only 2 or so in the 240 by themselves UNTIL they are over 5 inches. They get bloat VERY easily when stressed by other fish or if they arent the dominant fish in the tank.

Any more opinions? I think black on black sand would look nice, also had pool filter sand in mind.

I think grammode would be better then a dovii. Dovii from what i have read and from others experiences will kill everything.

I'm not a black nasty fan, more so cubans. Would a salvini or jag be ok with a grammode and trimac?

BTW: Thanks for the replys :)

The only problem with the salvini is it wont get as big as the others in there and might end up being harassed. You could always put it in there at the same size and maybe it will get a reputation not be messed with. Ive seen it happen before.

I have 3 bags of black and 3 bags of pool filter sand mixed in my tank...I think it looks good, especially with black/grey rocks.

I like the sand idea i think i might try that. I'll have some drift wood and pots. Driftwood works as good line of sight blockers for the fish. Any other ideas on setup to help curb aggression?

Oh for those interested i took some pictures of the stand being build, painted finnished along side the tank. I'll post them as soon as i get them uploaded

Any pics of the tank?
