Arowanas. We all know they jump. Mine was no exception. I thought my high school textbooks would be enough, but I was wrong. You only need to make the mistake once, and your fish is gone, dead, its over. Please, don't make the same mistake I did. For your own good.

I used to use big rocks I grabbed from the beach... He jumped out knocked the rocks in and almost busted my tank... I grabbed him up with 2 hands and put him back in.. mfk'er jumped 6 times before I finally sold him at 2ft... One time he shat on the rug.. No joke. My fish shat on my rug!!!

OMG... That is one of my biggest fears. Its like a catch 22. Put something heavy on the top to weigh it down and risk it falling in and cracking the tank or use something not as heavy and have your arowana Bust thru and plunge to his death. Right now mine is about 15in but hasn't tried any dumb ish yet. I know its just a matter of time and I want to be prepared the best I can.
I Just bought one two days ago and the darn fish jumped out of my tank and ended up behind my TV wall unit I got it back into the tank and it jumped out again!! I got'em back into the tank finally but it died yesterday

That sucks dude. I put 2x4's (2) across the top of the tank with big eyelets in the end, and hooks screwed to my stand. I run a ratchet strap between the eyelets and the hooks. No way the top can open.I tried bricks before, but a pacu hit the top hard, once, and the brick flew straight up and came back down through the glass top. Shards of glass floated down through the water and cut up a couple of the fish pretty bad. Thats when I switched to the 2x4's.
you could always try putting plexiglass over the top just underneath the hood. and that way theres at least some form of barrier before he hits the top.
