Its suppused to be a Motoro Sp. Rio Ucayali.
A friend brought it home from Iquitos in Peru the other day :)
It's my first ray and I hope I can keep it in good shape, so far its looking good I think.
It's eating shrips and earthworms allready. Also ate a few small livebearers.
Swims a lot around, thats a good sign I hope?

looks nice. can you give us some tank information?

Its only a 73 gallon tank with very fine sand as you can see.
It has a 20 gallon sumpfilter full of filtersponge and bioballs.
Its very well cycled, and has 0 nitrite and nitrate. Ph is stabile 6,5.

I plan to move it to bigger tanks as it grows.

very pretty motoro....
:)

Yeah, it looks better for real, the pics are taken with my mobilephone and the colors dont show right..

I put the heater in the sump, I read here that they can get burned on it.

nice pickup!

Very nice Roy! Healthy looking ray!

That is a great looking ray. I love the pattern on it. It should be interesting to see how it will change as the ray gains some size.

Does anybody know the exakt species this is?
At the wholesaler in Iquitos, Peru it was dubbel prize compared to the other most common motoros there. They called it Motoro Species.

It looks different than the other ones my friends brought home, espesially with the spines on its tail. (Not sure spines is the right name, you understand?)

I think of this sharp things on it's tail:
