Hey gang, I finally got my gold tsn back. Sold it at 15"+ and it was a lighter gold sheen with normal pattern but after I sold it it turned full xanthic. I was finally able to strike a deal and got it back. But it came home with a friend!!!!!! Goldie is almost 20" the other is 23-24"

WOW!!

Xanthic color is a result from a molecular misalignment and can also be a passed down gene. Almost the same as albino but occurs less often.
Heres a few more pics of the other. Its molting but I'm sure after its done, we'll see way more xanthic color covering the entire body.

xanthism (xanthochroism): An unusual colour variety in which the normal colouration of a fish is largely replaced by yellow pigments.

This is actually NOTHING like Albino as albino is the LACK of pigment, also xanthics can actually change from normal, to xanthic then back again if their hormons are regulated, the xanthic changes are brought on by hormonal changes which are not fully understood at this point (being heavily researched by asian breeders from what I understand).

I find it weird that 2 were being housed together and changed at such a late stage in their lives... which led me to my question of what did he do with that pond that created the right conditions for the change. It was shear luck that he had 2 with the same condition.... but still :D

the goldie is looking great
both of 'em nice

WOW...beautiful cats.

I've always liked xanthics due to their ability to change from normal to xanthinc...I find that absolutely amazing.
