Thanks for everyone's great suggestions!

As much as I would've loved to go for a 240 or a 180, (since the 29g I have now is my first tank), I've decided to be smart about this and start a little less and grow to a larger one next year.

After 5 months of searching CL, I FINALLY found a 125 on Craigslist locally for $400 with the stand, glass tops, 3 lights that don't match, enough natural rocks to fill up THREE 125 gallon tanks so I have plenty to choose from, 2 TopFin HOB Filters, a ton of fake plants, 2 totes of plastic decorations, another tote full of chemicals, some under gravel filters, and one tote full of driftwood. Basically, the guy was swapping from FW to Salt, so wanted to clean house of everything. I noticed yesterday that there is another nice 150 gal close by now for $450, but I'm happy with what I've got now.

I'll post some more pictures as I get it all together, (with a better camera), and the plan is to have it up and running by Xmas Day!!

Good luck and congrats on the new tank!!

Luckily the tank fit in the bed of the truck since the stand and accessories took up the entire trailer!!

I'm off to buy the egg crates for the bottom floor of the tank and the Pool Filter Sand and Crushed Coral this afternoon. Rather than using the HOB style filters that came with it, I'm opting for a Wet/Dry underneath with a submersible pump for filtration. Well, so far that's the plan. I'm waiting to hear back from a buddy that's putting together a price for the setup. The price will make the decision on whether I go that route or go with a canister setup for my filtration. We're going with a Wet Dry Sump setup for a 175 gallon and a pump that will move about 1600GPH. I'm thinking that should keep the water pretty clean!:woot:

If all goes according to plan, I'll have the entire room setup by this summer as the 'Aquarium Room'. It's a 45 X 25 room that isn't used in our house except for storage, so I've CLAIMED IT! :naughty: I'll then have a 29g square, 30g Hex, 10g for an emergency tank, my 125, and hopefully another 125 or a 150 by then as well.

Since that room backs up against the garage I plan on tapping into my washing machine water line and running a tap into the room for a fresh water source in the room. I'm also planning on putting a small external waterpump in the room with the drain going out into the flowerbed so I can hook up to it and make water changes easier.

So I guess even though I may not have a 500+gallon setup, I might as well start making up for it by going overboard with the room setup!

Very nice man, im still in an apartment so to get a 6' tank i'd have to get rid of my 75 and 45 completely haha, regardless looks like you got a solid deal and i look forward to seeing it get setup, any plans for stocking it yet?

What's your plans on stocking it? I'm assuming something that the crushed coral in the substrate would benefit from? African cichlids?
