finally one of you!!! payara

just traded my big bala shark for a 2" payara im so stoked. He is in a 5 gallon tank with a slow current till he gets alittle bigger then he goes in the 100g at 3" then ill throw him into the 300g at 5".
question 1. im trying to get it to bite raw shrimp and that will be its main diet how long do you think it will take to grow from 2" to 5"? his water has low current.
question 2. is this guy gonna kill everything once it gets big? whats there personality like in your opinion?

i will post pics soon so you can tell me what kind of payara it is its just to small and my skill is to low to post one yet.

Wow, I wish I could trade my Bala Sharks for a Payara. I think you got the better end of that deal.

I've had a couple since they were about 2" and they have shown no aggression until about 6". Even then they have been fairly tame toward tank mates. I did find some bite marks on the smaller Bala shark but it has healed since.

im glad i got a good deal yeah my lfs traded it. i live in seattle and its rare to see payara here. whats there growth rate like?
ive read the payara owning guide im looking for more input

I've had mine for a little less than a year now. The dominant one has grown about 3" and the other one only about an inch. The bigger one eats a lot more and doesn't let the other one eat as much. They've been only getting goldfish but I'm trying to get them to eat tilapia chunks.
