finally, I have one. Around 12-14". Great little fellow. Very inquisitive. Set me back quite a lot.

8 fins rays on the dorsal fin, very rounded head and chunky wide body, lots of spotting, suspect it to be a female. She's in the pond now. Untill the big tanks arrives. So here some quick pictures of arrival.

Now, I just need to wait for the 3 lithodoras as they've been held up due to bad weather.

Very nice addition.

Thanks guys. Great little cat, very similar, yet very different to the more common learius longisbarbs.

Beautiful cat for sure but I must remain skeptical of the ID.

There is no export from Lake Maracaibo. Hasn't been for decades, it appears. Someone would have to have pulled this cat out of the lake and even then, it would have to be proven that this is what they did.

Are you sure of the ray count? Often rays can join at the base then split higher up the fin. Also, rays can be cut off / lost and not grow back, which is a stretch but quite fathomable.

Don't get me wrong, bro. I want it bad for you to be the elusive perruno https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=685 but you must understand our skepticism:

Note that Necrocanis is the ultimate catfish aficionado. He'd blow us all catfish lovers taken together and multiplied by 10 out of the water. He reconstructs catfish skeletons of hundreds of bones and mounts them the right way and studies them and their differences and draws conclusions. Oh yeah! What have I done? I typed up a storm... Too bad he's gone under the radar for 5+ years.

Fully understand what your saying victor. After all, this fish appeared in a sump tank, and wasn't imported over.
I've been speaking to someone over in the uk about said fish. It is possible it could be a hybrid, so he says. I don't know. It's hard to say without knowing catch locations. But from the information sourced and what we've read up in the books. It fits the bill. But I've also read there is another
Perrunichthys sp.
