I've been into the hobby since I was a kid and turned mostly to aquatic turtle tanks and pond keeping as teenager. 15yrs later I still have the same turtles and koi although the tanks got bigger, the ponds got bigger and changed locations I still have the obsession with anything to do with aquariums, aquascapes, wetlands and filtration like it was all still brand new to me.*
Recently I started researching wet/dry sumps (always been a canister man) and built one. I subjected myself to exstensive reading on this and other forums and YouTube videos, then translating into freshwater terms and applications.*
Anyway, after much lurking and reading thread after thread I decided to join one to get directed answers for my specific questions and pay back with any knowledge I have. And it wasn't likely I'd pick any other community than MONSTER FISH KEEPERS! Not only is it a perfect fit for me but it's so much cooler than "aquarist." Especially because I'm a Scorpio.*
