Let me know if I got the sub species name wrong. I think it is a Palmas but this is the one I can't ever remember. Anyway, this is my biggest Bichir but some how he always manages to be the most well hidden. So I came down this morning and he was just laid out up front in the tank conveniently in front of the pipe I cut to 18" (works perfect as a size reference). Enjoy, Ryan

Me too!!!! A lapradei........ nice Lap

Looks good whatever type it is.

Thanks for the comments guys and helping me figure out what kind he (or at least by his rear fins appears to be) is. I've always liked this guy b/c of how he is proportioned. Some of the bichirs tend to just get real fat but not grow length wise but this guy has always been nice and thick and yet not overly fat while still getting longer. And his tail fin has always been quite large. I think he's about 13" now! I got him when he was kind of large at around 9".

I was all ready to purchase a larger tank for my guys/gals but then I got laid off a little over 2 weeks ago and figured I better hold off on a new tank for a bit. Thankfully I just started a new job yesterday so hopefully a 120-150 gal will be in the near future.

Thanks again, Ryan
