This spring has been so bad for me. With my Sister spending 2 months in the ICU then passing 3 weeks ago I just have not been my normal self where I have been able to get out and fly fish like I normally do at all. Normally I would have had at least 10-12 days on the water by now in a regular year. Finally have something to look forward to now :nilly: Sunday I am heading on a fishing trip with my fishing buddy to my home away from home (Au Sable river) and he's gonna fish with me for 3 days. Then he leaves on Wednesday morning and I am moving from a double room to a single room at the motel which is only 200ft from the river. The past few weeks I had been setting aside money from rod sales to afford this trip. I plan to stay at least a week, maybe 10 days, who knows. We'll see how long the money hold out. I love fishing with my buddy, but I'm really looking forward to being alone for 7-10 days. There's just something very healing for my soul about spending an extended trip alone on the river.

Place we stay at is really nicely situated as well. Country motel in a small town, 200' from the river, grocery store, restaurant, fly shop, and family dollar all within a 2 minutes walking distance from it. I'll have my laptop with me so I should be able to post daily updates in the fishing section during the trip :)

As Kramer would say....Serenity now Serenity now Serenity now :grinyes:

Sounds awesome.....enjoy and post plenty of photos!

Sounds like something you definitely need right now, and Man, does that sound great!

Do/will you keep any of your catches for eating?

I had a day off a couple of weeks ago, and found a little bit of time to do a little fishing at a nearby small pond.
Unfortunately, the little guy got gut hooked, and I couldn't revive it. So, I took it home....

Ulu Ulu The Serienty now episode was one of my favorites :grinyes:

xraycer xraycer I love the taste of fish, one of my favorites, but I am pretty much all C&R these days for the most part. That brookie looks good though, they are such a gem of a trout.

Me too.
Catch and roast!

I eat lots of fish, but it's never better then when from my own hook.

That's version 4.1 of my electric boat, with dual 55lb Navigator motors salvaged from a cabin cruiser. There were three gasoline incarnations, and this was the first electric version. 12 or 24vdc, 3+ speeds but no reverse (unless you used the remote steer bow motor., also 55lb)

I'm dying to go again once our re-roofing is done. This photo was 2 yrs ago.

It had three 55's with the bow motor going too. She never went over 5 knots, where it did about 25 kts with the Evinrude 40.

It has a SW rated 112 lb Minn Kota on the back now, and I ditched the weedeater prop for a speed prop. Still makes less than 6 kts. Partly because I added 2 more RV batteries. It's heavy.

The hull is 14'-6" at the waterline and narrow at 52" nominal beam.

This was with the Navigators. OK on smooth water, but too flexy in any chop.
