Hey Everybody!

My freshwater sting ray (female) sheded her first stinger! It's been awhile...I've had my 2 rays since the beginning of september 2009 and finally got one STINGER! Currently my male has two stingers and are solid black, my female now has a solid black stinger...the stinger sheded is white. Can anyone tell me why it's white? Is that repose to occur? I ask this because a book I've been reading shows sheded stingers very sharp and look different from this one....

MY COLLECTION BEGINS!!!!!!!:headbang2
:D

By the way can you guess when will be the next shed?

Thats the case where the stingers will be placed...also their is a divider for the male's stingers (on top) and the females (on the bottom).

Sweet, you will definitely have more to come. I don't even know who is shedding what these days. Just see a stinger in the tank and then wonder who it came off of. Here is a pic of my collection.

That is AWESOME!!!! Your rays must be at least 15 or 20 inches in disc size to have those stingers compare to my little rays....Also do you bleach them or anything because I heard people do that...

The skin comes off the stinger once it is shed. The stinger itself is white. Your male will lose his soon if both stingers are about the same length.
There is a thread somewhere here in the stingray forum where members have posted pics of shead stingers.

I don't do anything with mine, just dry them out. My biggest ray is 12" and he has not shed yet. Most of those came off of 8-10" rays.
