How big are those dats, lima, fire eel and jurunese catfish? A 3-4 inches SAL looks like a an earthworm. If those other fish are much bigger the SAL will surely get eaten. As for food try bloodworms or blackworms. Or cut up prawn or cut up fish fillet with higher protein.

my dats are 2-3", fire eel is 3", lima is 8"(in the big tank), jurunese is 4-5"...i was planing on growing them out with the fire eel and dats they are in their own 55gal grow out...eventually the SALs would go into the big tank with the 2 cats, 2 pbass, 4 silver aros, a gar, ck, and 2 bgks(if the pbass leave them alone)...

do they tend to take prawn and fillets fast or will they need training?

You have to train them to eat those prepaired foods but bloodworms and blackworms will surely won't get ignore. If they are not eating yet, turn the lights off to complete darkness for the first 2 weeks. This will help them get use to the environment and food. Once settle in they will eat even lights on. Try to add some plants for them to hide.

Here is an example. They are 7" right now.

I fed pleco waffers and sinking pellets for the first few months. I got mine about 6-7 months ago he was 6inches he's now pushing 15 inches and chowing down on tilapia, pleco chips, and the occasional flake food that sits on the bottom

mine also eats hikari sinking carnivorepellets and tropical chrisps

I got mine at the end of october at around 6in..now its just under 14in..mine comes to the top for floating pellets and also gets earthworms(seem to be a favorite) ramshorn snails, bloodworms, mealworms, pleco wafers, sinking pellets and ghost shrimp
