After a few years of trying to find a carp small enough to keep in my possession the search was over yesterday. I went out yesterday to try and catch a few but I noticed that I was getting a lot of short runs and pickups but no hook ups. After hooking a 5lber I caught what I thought was a bluegill seeing it come in through the water and it turned out to be a small juvenile carp. In a mad scramble to figure out what to put him in to transport him home he threw the hook which didn't bother me much because he was foul hooked under the pec fins. So right as I was packing up I get another around 8lbs and noticed my one rod kept getting picked up but the fish wouldn't run far so I assumed it spat the hook. So finally I decided bring that rod in and leave and I'm reeling it in and the lines going all over the place but it didn't feel big sure enough it was another juvenile and I found a bucket in the woods filled that up and transported him home. I was so lucky to find that bucket because I had no clue I'd catch one that size let alone two so collecting was the last thing in my mind. Other than that he looks great in my tank just got home from college for the summer added a sand bottom and got a few more plants. Don't know how long I'll keep him for may swap him out if I get a smaller one I have a pond to put them in but for the time being I'm really happy and excited I got one.

I hasn't had any luck finding a small mirror carp for awhile. Still has my common carp here.

Actually I found a fish farm that sells them and I'd say within the next week I'll be in contact with them. But if you somehow stumble on one before then let me know we can try and work something out. There was no way I was passing up two carp this size not to take home. For being roughly 5-6" he's got some shoulders on him definitely a thick fish. It's funny how scared he is of my little 3" channel catfish and my smaller bass is chasing him around every once and awhile but I think he got the picture that it won't come close to fitting in his mouth. Other than that the carp had a little damage to his tail and dorsal fin I'd like to heal up and I have no clue how long I'm keeping it for but I'm enjoying the time I have with it now
