I had 12 Dats all together. 7 of the larger Dats I moved to the bigger tank. One by one, they were getting badly picked on and it was usually the smallest one of the bunch. One dead Fei Feng, one injured gill plate Dat, one dead Dat, and 2 other Dats with some badly damaged fins later, I was down to 3. These 3 are all about the same size. Got back from work today to find one of them with scratches and torn fins.

Anyone else experience this with Dats? Thinking of moving 2 of the 3 to the smaller tank with all the others, but I'm kind of worried I might move the bully to the other tank.

Sorry to hear dude. I'm baffled. It's not often u get group of 5 tigers fight that bad that 2 die. Did the FF have any wounds when u found it dead? Did u test water?

Any other tank mates? If u have one tiger with no damage compared to other ones , u may want to move him to the bigger tank. In fact I would probably move all of them to bigger tank. This all happened after you seperated te fiah. As a large group , they were probaby very secure, lots of aggression spread out. And SAME size tigers don't mix that well ime.

acclimate them first. Just incase water params differ between tank. Best to be safe.

I have seen them fight a lot they all always will but never to the death unless it's NGT

Also got a BGK and some Polys (Endlis, Lap, Ornate, Delz). At first I thought it might be them, but it always seems to be the smallest Dat while the rest are fine, but once the small one is moved, there's another victim to take it's place.

And all of them are ITs.

U never know what happens whenlights are out.
Any updates?

Well...looks like the one that was beat up hasn't gotten any new fight wounds, but I'm still keeping an eye on them. I know about night time. I'm still wondering about the Bichirs, so I was trying to sell them, but no one seems to want them.

Most likely the BGK and/or the Ornate do all that damage. Datnoid may punk each other now and then, but they don't kill each other. Even you put a 4"-5" datnoid with a 10"-12" datnoid, the small one doesn't get bully by the big one. Usually in datnoid, the ones of same size fight more than different in size. Ornate is known for their aggressive/nipping behavior. I haven't owned a BGK, but a friend of mine has one, and I couldn't believe how that sucker keep killing his filamentosum. The BGK chewed their fins and tail off, nip the body...
