Hi guys think i done a big f##k up as anyone add sucess using fine gravel with motoros . This coold result in me having to take out the 80kg i put in the dam tank . My male is always on move up and down glass and iam seeing abrasions on his claspers and tale :( what would u do ???

I use 1mm fine gravel in all my ray tanks,it allows the rays to do what rays do,forage for food and bury themselves when they feel the need, however theres round smooth gravel and sharp gravel.......theres a big difference!!!......take it out its obviously of the wrong variety.

This is extra fine gravel . Made by hagen grabworks fine gravel for hermit crabs i fort it would be a good substrate for the rays maybe iam wrong :(

I know which substrate that is,its ok for what its designed for but far too abrasive for the delicate discs of freshwater rays......remove it right away and keep the ray on a glass bottom till it is fully healed. This product will probably contain a fair amount of calcium based material which will be of benefit to to crustaceans but not necessarily your rays, basically it may alter your water chemistry, use a inert substrate wherever possible.

hmm man that sucks!

im using that caribsea tahitam moon sand. and its all good. very fine and doesn't bother the rays (as yet anywaY) its been about 1 month.
maybe that is an option? IT was EASY as farq to wash...
