Hey everybody, I'm trying to pick out a really nice watch for Dad for x-mas. He's recently started collecting fine timepieces that are way beyond my budget, but I'd like to give him something special to wear & appreciate every day. He likes unique, but tasteful. So nothing outlandish or huge. Oh, and NO ROLEX. He hates them.
Anyways, please give me any input you may have on the brands I've listed below. Opinions, stories, other brands, etc. This gift is from the whole family, so don't think I usually have this kinda cash layin around!

1. Omega
2. Oris
3. Jacques LeMans
4. Swiss Watch International
5. Raymond Weil

I would really suggest Omega, also Kenneth Cole though it is not from Swiss.

can't go wrong with omega. what's your budget? what about vintage stuff? how big is his wrist?

What is your budget? My dad, brother, and I are into watches. I would get him Omega or Oris. Make sure you only buy automatic, Oris only makes automatics but Omega makes Quartz (battery) also. If your dad really gets into watches like my dad and his friends, they will only buy automatic watches in the future. They will buy and trade only in automatic and won’t even look at Quartz watch unless it’s Patek Phillip. Basically anything that is automatic watch is good.

Thanks for the input all! It will absolutely be an automatic & I was leaning toward the Omega, but the Oris are just sooooo sweet!

Eeeeaaah, not crazy about the Planet Ocean line... Too curvy.

The Finalists:

TAG-Heuer Grand Carrera Chronograph http://www.amazon.com/TAG-Heuer-Car...1_10?ie=UTF8&s=watches&qid=1259703409&sr=1-10

I have to eliminate one of these & give the family the 3 best options on Thursday night, so let me know which y'all like!

EDIT: I'm not buying it from Amazon. It just seemed like an easy, safe link for everyone...

I have a Phillipe Patek that I only wear on special occassions. So, it gets worn once a year! I have a nice Tag-Heuer but, the lens was broken and I've never had it fixed yet.

That Oris TT1 is my choice,I've had my eye on it from a while back.
