Well it took forever but I finally finished my filtration.

I'm running dual 1 1/4" Durso Standpipes draining into the wet dry, from the pump I'm running 1" ID tubing to a ball valve then split to dual 3/4" modular pipes.

The wet / dry is a 29 gallon tank, with drip tray, filter floss and 60 pot scrubbies. I'm using a Pondmaster 2400gph pump and you'll notice I had to cut up a AC110 sponge to set it on to keep it from vibrating too much. I plan on adding more scrubbies to the bottom left section of the tank, just another 40 or so to help out.

It's been cycling for about a week even though I used 50 gallons of water and filter media from two HOB filters. I've done several water changes though so I imagine thats why it's taking so long.

I still need to make my canopy and glass lids, as well as finish the decorations.. I just threw a couple pots in for the native fish that I'm using to cycle the tank.

Lighting consists of a dual 48" T8 shop lights with cheap Lowes Sunlight 32w bulbs, I plan on switching to powerglo's once I get the the canopy done though.

Stocking list will consist of my fire eel, red wolf fish, 2 senegals and a rope fish. I will probably add something else as that will be way understocked but I'll burn that bridge when I find something else that intrigues me..

Anyway, enjoy the pics :D

looks pretty good just clean the glass haha

Nice set up. 2400GPH ? My 125G has a 950GPH. Wonder if I should upgrade. Cycling a tank is like waiting for a pot to boil. :)

Mud, is the sound of the water draining into the wet/dry loud/annoying? I set mine up a couple of weeks ago and it came with some fancy twirling spray bars for water entering back into the filter. Well it kept flooding so I removed the swirling bars and now the sound of the water is almost as bad as the sound i had from the overflows before i got my durso pipes.

Nah, it's overkill but it came with the tank.. I have my ball valve partially closed to restrict the flow.

Actually it's not too bad. My overflows are louder. Not the Durso pipes but the water flowing over the overflow and dropping down 6-7", maybe I need to restrict the pump a little more to keep the water from pushing through to fast. Although I'm sure once I get my glass lids finished it will block 90% of that sound.

Actually I've been thinking about extending the durso up so the water does not need to fall as far.

Almost cycled :D

Amonia: .25
Nitrate: 20

I'm out of the bottles for the Nitrite so I can't get a reading on that just yet.

Also added another 24 pot scrubbies to the bottom portion of the wet / dry. Gonna keep adding more as dollar general gets them in.

BTW.. I love 2400gph lol..

I keep the pump restricted by a ball valve, the ball valve is about 3/4 of the way open. Well The creek chub in the tank is very messy to say the least. Tons of poop everywhere. So instead of vacuuming it up I just opened the ball valve all the way and within 3 minutes there was no poop anywhere in the tank. Then simply reduce it back to 3/4 again. It's a lot easier then vacuuming, and it's really easy to change the filter floss when I need to.

Guess I might be blind or something, but where is your return line? Is it the pipe in the overflow? I just bought a Mag-Drive 24 for my 240g tank and I am just planning out how I should return the water to my tank.
