Thank you MFK'ers for all the advice!! I am close. The tank is painted. If I could get someone over to help flip the tank a few times i would seal the drilled holes. I just need a heater: Thinking a jaeger 300 watt with my 200 watt marineland as backup. The tank is a 150 tall...48"x24"x30" ....I need to work out lighting and I need a glass lid.

The issue with the lid is it will sit about 1.5 inches above the tanks waterline inside the canopy. The center brace on the custom tank will not work with a standard lid plus there is no inside lip to hang it on. My solution was to build a canopy to support both the lid and the lights.

That brings me to my only remaining challenge. I have three inches of height inside the canopy for lights. The center brace for the lids cuts that down to 1.5 inches in the center. I am thinking of using Marinland LED double bright. It is cool operating and only 3/4 of an inch tall! The canopy has a three inch vent in the back 48' inches long so I could run traditional lighting but i am not much at wiring a custom job.....I hope you enjoy the pics.....I especially like the stand......looks like its made of granite in person!! If I had some help I would assemble it all for a pic!! Any ideas on lighting????? Thanks, ChefKen

well almost done......I need to hit sloppy seams one more time to tighten it up.....two more coats of enamel on the canopy.....did two, sanded, recoated.....two more should do it. It will never be perfect but it looks good enough to give it my best!

great work dude,
Thanks! Where in Russia are you?? I spent a semester at Leningrad Polytechic back in 1990.....Did some illegal traveliing.....

In the above I describe the space and restrictions inside the canopy.....I was thinking about attaching a 48" Marineland LED double bright fixture inside......I could add more in future.....If I go with a taller fixture (profile height) the center brace for the lid cuts the space to less than 1.5 inches.....Not many fixtures that thin!
