so i've had my baby peacock bass for maybe 2 months now. the LFS recommended i feed him frozen bloodworms since thats what they were feeding him. for the first few weeks he would go crazy over them, until one day he just decided he doesnt like them anymore. is that normal for these fish to just out of nowhere turn their nose up at something they were used to eating? now all he seems to want is some of the frozen market shrimp ive been feeding the RTC. i have to cut it up in tiny little pieces everyday for him and he eats like 2 or 3 pieces. he's about 3" long now.

is it ok for him to eat nothing but raw market shrimp or should i be getting him on something else?

Some times its happends to me. But if he just automaticaly ways market shrimp that good but try and vary his diet. Found out what he likes to eat, try freeze dries krill and market shrimp. Good luck post pics of him plz

I'm going to say he is a mono pbass and yeah shrimp is better for him than bloodworms and seeing that he taught himself how to eat shrimp that's just a plus! Next up try to get him onto pellets like hikari sinking carnivore it'll bring out his colors much more and is very good for bass. Good looking little mono u have. Keep us updated

What makes you say mono? I've grown a few out and this looks much different. I know it's hard to tell when they're so small but I'd lean more towards an orino/ ocell

I'm still new at peacock bass so I dnt know a lot myself but I guessed mono because the bar on its head which I've seen shows up a lot more often and much bolder on monos than it does then ocell with the exception of pelizona. And the horizontal line that connects the last marking to the tail spot which I only see on mono hybrids or orinos. And I ruled out the factor of orino because unless it is a orino hybridized with a mono the horizontal line will rarely leak beyond the tail spot and go all the way through the tail. And the last part that got me thinking mono was the very dark black color of its dorsal fins which seems to be a characteristic special to monos.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong lol Im still learning myself so I could be wrong about all of it haha

I'm new too so no worries.. Just felt like its color was more like the small orinos I just got. But yeah definitely hard to tell at such a young age. Maybe one of the veterans will chime in
