I've had fire eel for a couple weeks now. until a few days ago, it was really active and readily ate from my hand. I would feed him 3-4 worms a day, as well as broken up massivore occasionally. on about wednesday though, he seems to lose interest in the food and isn't really active anymore. I hid some worms in some PVC that only he could enter, in hopes he would eat them after dark. I'm not sure if he ate them or not. Looking at him, he looks well fed.

Think there is something wrong with my eel? Or have i just been feeding him too much?

Fasting is normal for a few days here and there. I fast mine every weekend for 2 days. usually sat and sun.. sometimes fri/sat.. depending what my husband and I are up to that weekend. When they go more then a few days thats when you should worry. ime Aggression from tank-mates, and internal parasites are often culprit for long-term fasting (over 12" approx 9 days, 5 in those 12" under)

other then not eating and hideing.. is he acting "weird" in any other way? and of course rule out water quality issues, by doing a full work-up of you water parameters.

yea like wat he said, your eels fine his probably just fasting. if you get a tire track eel thought, those guys are always hungry, thats why they grow to 2-3 feet so fast

Its not actually an Eel, and they do this alot.

Just make sure you keep up with water changes and youll be fine my guys around 20" now and fasts in quite a regular pattern, not sure how hes gonna cope in the pond he only hand feeds.

Try live river shrimp when mine fasts he will still eat these if theres not a serius problem so thats youre best bet.
