Hey guys I just joined and wanted to ask how many red wrigglers I should feed and how often. I finally got it to eat red wrigglers yesterday after it starved himself for 12 days and Im also planning on getting him to eat frozen shrimp. His around 12-13 inches.

Welcome aboard

How big is the Fire Eel? I personally would feed until I noticed a little bulge but it depends on the size of the Fire Eel.

I wrote it in the post but his around 12-13 inches and he wasn't really fat when I brought him so I'm trying to fatten him up.

I totally missed that I apologize. I probably would feed it 3-4 Red Wriggler's once a day. Also would feed one at a time so worm didn't burrow into the substrate.

I have 12 inch fire eel, I bought it 2 weeks ago. I’m not sure how much to feed him. I feed him 4, sometimes 5 cubes of frozen bloodworms a day and yet he’s still begging for more! He ends up panting after his meal, which I don’t know if he’s eaten too much. I’m really confused and would appreciate some advice. Should I carry on feeding him till he stops wanting more?

I think the problem may be the size of food as much as the quantity. Bloodworm is fine for smaller eels however at 12” this guy can accept larger foods like mussels, worms, cut fish pieces, etc. and unless he is transitioned onto them he will want more and more bloodworm to fill him. On larger foods I also wouldn’t feed every day of the week. It is good to have a day off.

tried starving him for one week but he won’t eat anything else. I was too scared to keep him hungry for any longer. ?
I don’t think the place I bought him from fed him anything else.
Thank you for your advice and sorry to have just added this here. I didn’t know how to add a new post, but I have figured it out now! I

Welcome to MonsterFishKeepers Sam!

You could try feeding something in tandem with the bloodworms. When he goes for the bloodworms he may end up eating the other offered food as well, and eventually recognize it as something other than bloodworms that's good to eat.
