I have a 6-7 inch fire eel in a 75 gallon tank and am planning on getting a 180 in the next year. So my question is could a fire eel and a bichir be tank mates without problems? Or should I wait till I have the 180 and just put bichirs in my 75 gallon? Also, my lfs carries bichirs in the 2-3 inch range and no bigger. I forget exactly which species they carry, but I'll be making a trip there again soon. I never really looked at bichirs before, but since I found this site and saw some of your pictures I really want one now! Thanks in advance for you help and input!

Also the only other fish in the tank right now is a sail fin pleco.

I have a fire eel the same size in a 135 african tank, which also houses a 10" senegal bichir, and no problems at all. Even when they cross paths, nothing. Thinking of adding my 4" ornate as well, never even thought of having problems between the 2 species.

they will be fine together. i have my 13" fire eel in my 55 with 2 bichir and the fire eel is most of the time in the PVC tube.

Awsome! Thanks guys!
