I currently have a 7 to 8 inch clownknife in a 70 gallon tank, i want to purchase a fire eel to put in there, (i think they look awesome), could that work, and what would i feed the fire eel, and i know ill have to eventually upgrade.

Yes a fire eel would work but both fish would outgrow that tank within 18 months.
If you still want to get one worms of all kinds are great food with the bigger eels sometimes taking shrimp, cockles etc

alright thanks, yeah i would end up getting/building a much bigger tank in the future, possibly 300g, but thats a ways away yet, ill have to check out the lfs, how much do they usually run for?

They should be fine as long as you have plenty of hiding spots for them so they don't fight over one.

Should be a great combo

I would try to feed your fire eel all sorts of worms ( try bloodworms, blackworms, earth worms, red wigglers) market shrimp and give some cut up fish fillets a try

thanks yeah, ill have lots of rock formations, and ill eventually be moving the knife to a much bigger tank, but how long would the eel be content in the 70, the dimensions are 48 by 18 by 18, and how much do they cost? the eel that is
