A few weeks ago I ran out of shrimp ( I know rookie mistake ) and couldn't get to the store and they both did't get anything to eat for 4 days, but when I had shrimp and tried feeding them they did't eat a thing. The water parameters are all fine and there is no viable sign of illness, they haven't eaten in 3 weeks and it is becoming concerning, both of them seem more lethargic and not as perky as they once were. There are no signs of wasting so parasites seem unlikely, also the I've caught the arrowana resting on the bottom once and a while and the fire eel slowly swimming up to the surface and them coming back down without gasping for air.

Have you tried other food to offer them? If you see no visual illness they could have internal illness that you will never know or see. Havent eat for 3 weeks is serious problem, but I know healthy fish can go without food for months. Try to introduce them to krill, pellets, worms or any other food you can get.

Ok thanks I'll try that with the arrowana, the fire eel is laying on his back and not swimming, I noticed on the eel that his scale aren't looking the best. I'm really at a loss here.

What were the water parameters exactly? Ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate? What did you use to test the parameters?

When was the last time you did a water? How much water did you change?

agree what are parameters? temp? How old is heater? Any additions to the tank fish or equipment?

The parameters were as follows, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, and nitrate was 65 ppm. No new fish or equipment the heater is around a year old but I don't think thats the problem. The eel unfortunately died today and I did a little autopsy, I found that his gills were not healthy. They looked pale and damaged and there was also some brown gunk on both sides, do any of you have any idea of what thats from?

how long was the eel dead before doing the necropsy? if fresh dead the gills can be pale from either prmary gill disease or being anemic. Do the gills look fused together? Can be anywhere from parasitic such as flukes to an irritant in the water and a host of things in between. Does the brown stuff look like extra slime? I would guess maybe the flukes
If he has been been dead for a little while the gills will get pale

I do not know the exact amount of time that had passed before the autopsy but the eel was stiff so probably a while. The symptoms for gill flukes match exactly with what is going on. Thanks

The arowana is now in a hospital tank with salt and methalyne blue as well as TC tetracycline. After I put him in there in noticed that his poop was green which is strange as he still hasn't eaten anything. Thoughts?
