yeah even by themselves 55gal wouldnt be enough they get huge i saw one that was at least 2ft and thick!!! what about peacock eels i heard they don't get as large and fire or tire track eels......i would like an eel but i don't want one that gets that big........i wish kuhlii loaches got like 6-8" long that would be cool!!! but them again it wouldn't be an eel haha
i found a site that says peacock eels need about 20 gals and grow much slower than fire eels i wounder if they will fit with any of the loaches or ghost knife
I agree with everyone above. My fire eels grew up in a 55, but I knew I would be transferring them soon. My one guy is a fat cow and grew from 7 inches to 18" in about 15 months!!! My big guy is 24" and fat and looks comfortable in a 120 gallon. As for the peacock eel, I think he would be fine except that ghost knives can be aggressive and my little peacock eel is so passive. As long as there is plenty of homes to hide in, I would think they would do okay together until the ghost knife gets big enough to eat the peacock eel. My black ghost knife is about 8" and is eating good size night crawlers (earthworms). They're mouths are bigger than you realize. Hope you find a good fit, eels are fantastic.
