Hey there everyone, here is my post in the general aquaria discussion however, i'm going to make it a bit more concentrated...

I would like to purchase a fire eel for my 150 tank, tankmates would be a silver aro, ornate poly, teacup stingray, and some clown loaches...

Do any experienced fire eel keepers believe that the loaches/poly/or ray might be a problem for the eel?

All the above would be storebought size.... less than 5-6 inches

I have eel with my poly and don't see a problem with the loaches but the ray might be a problem. I've heard stories of rays slurpin up on eels, although I have no experience with rays myself so don't take my word for it. As long as u have hiding places for the eel the other stock shouldn't be a bother.

That mix is just fine, as long as the fire eel is big enough not to be eaten by the other tankmates. All of those fish have a voracious appetite and would eat a wormy little eel if he's too small.

Okay thanks guys... where do eels like to hide.... all I have right now is three smaller kind of medium pieces of driftwood... what would you recommend getting... as I assume it's like everything else the more places to hide the more you will see him...

Eels likes things such as caves or things that can conceal part of their body. If there are no hiding spots the eel will bury himself haha but I think drift wood would be fine especially if u have hollow pieces or pieces with holes.

I just use PVC pipe and upgrade to bigger sizes as he grows.
