I know rays will eat anything they can put in their mouth but I was wondering has anyone had success with rays and a fire eel? I have about a 6" fire eel and was looking to add a ray to the tank.

Thanks

The fire eel will likely be eaten. It might be ok if the ray is very small, but all rays will soon get large enough to eat the eel. If you really want rays, consider trading the eel in, or setting up a smaller tank just for the eel.

i wouldnt do it....

Thanks for the advice. I definitely don't want to risk him getting eating and cannot bear with selling him so I guess he will get moved to a smaller tank.

Thanks again

they can go together but yours is to small right now when it doubles in size it should be ok to go in with rays right now they would prob think its a worm....btw how big are the rays?

I have seen them kept together before. Just make sure the eel is big enough not to be eaten. Also just make sure that the rays aren't agressive to it, cause they may just kill it cause they can.

i have a fire eel with my ray with no problems the eel is 19" tho and the ray a lot smaller

I think that if it is a larger ray like a motoro or leopoldi, it might try and eat the eel. The eel could be ok if it is larger than the ray, but the ray, being curious all the time and looking for food all the time, will keep trying to eat the eel. Especially when the ray catches up in size. I wouldnt do it if I were you.
