Hello there :)

I have a little question/problem about fire eel..

Mine chose to eat live earthworms and frozen bloodworms only..nothing else..no matter how i try to teach it to take krill or other frozen food (even frozen earthworms), i cant make it.. now winter is coming, earthworms went bye-bye and now im stucked with bloodworms for 3 months..

Any idea how to teach it to accept other frozen food? I tried to mix it with lots of bloodworms but it picked out of mix only those..

Its about 4" long..

Thanks for replies :)

Fasting for 4 days, try feeding it one of your other foods. Or else only feed it the alternatives for a week, if its got no other choice it will eat it eventually

I tried..but it rather starved for a week then taking anything else..i wouldnt like to starve it to death so i canceled for a while..

Fire eels are notoriously picky about new foods... starving them is the best bet to get them onto new foods...

It took me almost 6 months when i had my old eel to get him eating market prawns and mussels... before that he was also only eating bloodworms... the key is patience and not giving in... since once they accept a new food choice, then it becomes easier for them to start taking it as a staple...
