Yes, I understand that fire eels should eat bloodworms, brine shrimp, etc. But, could they eat mealworms? My friend feeds his eels mealworms and they actually prefer them over bloodworms. Mealworms are also easier for me to feed because I can easily raise my own mealworms. (My eel is 8" and a few months old)
Advice and Experience with Fire Eels is greatly appreciated.

I do not think it will be an issue if your eel takes them.. the issue is that fire eels can be finicky on what foods they take and what they won't . They can also become "stuck" on one type of food and refuse anything else.. my current eel won't even take earthworms (usually the easiest thing to feed to bigger eels) and actually nearly starved to death holding out for sporadic ghost shrimp feedings for a year! He finally broke and now takes freeze dried krill... but only freeze dried krill. They are great animals by t can be a pain to keep .
