we have 2 and they are about 6-7 inches long each...weve gotten them to eat shrimp a couple times but other than that they turn their noses up at everything except bloodworms.they are pretty fat and 100% healthy looking i just want to make sure they are getting all of their nutritional requirements.it cant be good for any fish to eat only one thing over and over
thats exactly how my little guy started now he will take worms havent tried anything else really as i have had a god supply of worms for free as we have been digging a lot
we had used worms for our other fish and the fire eels picked at it for a couple seconds but other than that they werent interested....i read in an aquarium book i have that you shouldnt use worms that you dug up anywhere as they eat the soil and there is a risk of chemicals having leached in to the soil that the worms have ingested that could make your fish seriously ill or even kill them..it reccommended that you use only bait store worms as they are bred and raised at a worm farm so they will be free of contaminates.hopefully you havent experianced that.but at the prices some bait stores charge for worms its understandable why youd want to just dig them up
Just learn to get used to it... I have a full grown Peacock Eel (macrognathus siamensis) and all he takes are bloodworms and small trout worms. Very little way around it. Won't even take new spectrum.
From my experience though, they would definitely eat live ghost shrimp. I used to have that problem too, and my "adult" used to eat like 20 in 1 serving.
have you tried not feeding him for a few days then trying other things ?
i got my pirana's to eat prawn for the 1st time last night and i had to not feed them for 3 days, then they at loads of it, so im hoping they will eat the prawn now that i feed them
we have knowen about ghost shrimp and heard black worms are good to but none of the pet stores in belleville carry them.but a friend of ours is opening up his own fish store so were gonna get him to order us some.we havent tried not feeding them.we feed them once a night and we recently got them to start eating out of our hands.but they are such pigs they eat about 1 1/2 cubes each.and even when its not feeding time if you stand in front of the tank the come up looking for their food.lol.the only reason im concerned is i want to make sure that they are getting all their dietary requirements from just eating bloodworms, as i dont know much about bloodworms.
