I have a 14" TT, and a 12" fire Eel that i keep together in a 55gal. aquarium. (before i get bashed on tank size, it is temp) My TT eats both frozen blood worms and krill, but my fire wont touch the krill @ all. My lfs has been out of blood worms for almost 2 weeks. How long can my fire go without food? I'd rather him eat the krill, has anyone else been able to transition their fire eel from blood worm to krill and if so how long did it take.
Fire Eel feeding question?

I've tried earthworms, ghost shrimp, massivore delight, sinking carnivore. Neither of my Eels touch them. My main concern now is my Fire Eel, because he has only eaten blood worms for as long as i've had him. I want to get him on krill. I've been feeding them krill since i've run out of blood worms 2 weeks ago, but i haven't seen my Fire Eel touch the krill at all. I may not have a choice but to continue to try and feed him krill. I just don't know how long my fire eel can can go without eating.
put the krill in the blood worm and see if he go at it then he might like the taste of the blood worm and not the krill.
That's an interesting idea. I'll try that out when my LFS gets their shipment of frozen blood worms in. I would just love it if i could just get both Eels eating frozen krill.
