So, Charles has been with us for four months and is now a whole 6 inches long (not a monster just yet).
Since he arrived he has refused all food apart from frozen blood worm of a specific type. We tried everything from fresh bloodworm, prawn soaked in bloodworm juice (ew), and a variety of other frozen wormy type treats. No. Only this specific type would do.
I didn't like the idea of starving him until he gave in as he just looks so hopeful as we go to bed each evening!
The only thing he has eaten other than bloodworm since we got him was a guppy that needed a temporary home (which was also his last), and a whole host of bamboo shrimp which he took chunks out of as they scuttered past him. This is what got him his name - he basically murders shrimp for pleasure. So this gave us an idea. We bought some ghost shrimp (10) which bounced about happily all day until the evening when Charles emerged from under the sand and spent all night hunting every single one down. It seems he lives up to his name...
My question is, we have a food tank for snails to keep our clown loaches happy and were thinking about stocking this with some ghost shrimp to add into the main tank a bit slower as it appears Charles is either a glutton or enjoys shrimp murder he just can't stop himself. How many should we add for an evening for him? At six inches I'm pretty sure ten was a bit of an excessive meal! (and he didn't touch his bloodworm)
